Default Point of view in dreams

Everyone I have ever talked to says that they have dreams in the first person, that is that they are actually doing activities in their dreams, but I always have my dreams in 3rd person. I am always watching myself do things from outside of my body. I am just curious what your dreams are like and what your take on the 1st vs. 3rd point of view difference is?

I don't know what to say mine are odd... I think I'd have to say both, yet I don't ever see a representation of me as I see in the mirror. I don't seem to really have much first person, but I know I do becouse I've seen my arms and legs from above like IRL.

I've never really know it all seems like a vison or something.... I see stuff happen and 'happen to me' (how I don't know) but none of its real... and If I beleive I can affect it I can change my dream how ever I want it...

Why don't we accept everyone and keep out our judgements? Can we see life from their eyes using their mind?!? Can we say something no-one knows for certian is false?!? Join me and others in accepting, love and understanding for everyone!
Isn't that what we all want in life??

Even tonight there was a dream where I had no trouble associating with men or women of all ages, animals, objects, spectator and even a curious state of feeling as if I was the dream. Each obviously has quite a different effect on how the dream is experienced since there is a different kind of involvement. In real life we are basically stuck in 1st person viewpoint but the dream self has no such limitations.

There is a limitation in our minds though and I am sure there are people who just can’t imagine associating with an object for instance. That viewpoint is incompatible for them and as strange as feeling colours for instance would be for the most of us. I don’t think its impossible to experience dreams in a particular way for anyone. To achieve a spectator effect for instance, you could watch over some scene play out while you sit in a tower observing it.

Mostly I’d say that if you always experience dreams in 1st person or 3rd person you just feel no need to explore different venture points to achieve whatever goals you have in dreams. Some people like coffee some people don’t, and its probably the same for viewpoints in dreams. Just a matter of preference. The essence of a dream is the same anyway, and it’s our minds that interpret the experience into pictures and sounds etc. So when your personal symbolism interprets a dream about love as “you, kissing a lover” then it’s perfectly normal for another person with his or her own personal symbolism to interpret a dream about love as “viewing a scene of two people kissing.”

Most of the time I dream in first person... every once in a while when I do dream in thrid person my dream is trying to tell me something. I have notcied that it is some what of a warning. I am the type of person that does noit do well with surprises, so I take these dreams as a heads up. It truly helps me deal with negative things that are going to happen alot easier. Does any one else do this?

I find your topic interesting but could not answer...since sometime I dream in 1st or third perspective. Sometimes I am not even part of the dream, I am only watching strangers living their experience. Sometimes I am a different person and I know it in my dream, it is as if I am helping them out.

But as for your question. When I dream in 1st perspective, I have little control and I am completely entagled into the dream and I usually dont realize I am dreaming unless some signs brings me back my awareness (lucid dreaming). When I am in 3rd perspective however, I am very much aware that I am dreaming and it brings me the feeling that I am experiencing the dream this way for me to understand something.

As for me being witness to other's people experience or being inside someone. It is always quite strange. I usually feel that these dreams are not my own, that either I am in someone else dream or even perhaps in their reality. I cant quite be sure yet as to what they really are and I have not fully questionned it yet. This is only my feelings about them.

The majority of my dreams are first person, until I run into trouble. When I am about to be killed in my dreams I come out of my body and become an observer of the events. It is strange though, because I still remain in my body to experience the moment of death, even though I am also outside of my body bearing witness. Being outside of my body helps to reduce the trauma of dying and keeps me aware that my existence is not dependent on my mortal form of the moment.

Common ways I die in dreams:
  • Encountering a demonic being who will typically bite my head off.
  • Crashing a car.
  • Going over a cliff.
  • Dying in war.
  • Reliving a death in a past-life.
  • Being hounded by authorities for teaching people how to fly, they eventually kill me because they know of no other way to interfere with the dissemination of the spiritual knowledge I bring.
  • Fighting vampires.
  • Fighting my father (this has typically been a kill or be killed event).

Leaving the body at the time of death may be something that happens in the physical and in the dream experience. A part of consciousness is integrated with the body and sticks with it for a while. At the same time, another part of consciousness followed the whole event, knowing what would happen even before it did.

At the point of death, the mind is caught in between the two for just a moment. I have experienced something like this too in many dreams. It leaves a strong impression, especially when I try to change the dream before something bad happens and it just doesn't work.

Perhaps it's a form of preparation for the real thing. One way or the other, we wake up afterwards, review the dream or the life and move on.

I have all kinds of dreams that I am still trying to figure out what i am seeing. Sometimes its like i am seeing through anothers eyes. Sometimes its good things, sometimes its bad things like i am a victim. sometimes i see myself in dreams, and other times i see people that i have come to learn that is what they call association. now when i dream of people that i know, i have what i call a verification number. three of something that is like my confirmation of something that is real or hasn't happened yet. Also when i dream and there are people that i know in there, usually they are sick. not always life threatening but something is wrong.

Thumbs down Interesting subject,

Dreams that is its like a look back at ones own perspective, and ones owns filters on our perception of what is reality. Has anyone in this world or any othere got reality as it is i doubt it.
Most folks live there lives through a filter of self percepion that very rarely marrys up with any form of reality. I only talk from my own obsevations and perceptions which are very limeted as all are.
Myself i dont like dreams but unfortunatley it seems to be a part of the humane condition. The only state that i can see to be without self dellusion would be nothing, that is the state of nothing.
This is the only state that i can see that no projections can be found. Talking once again from my own experince if i dream I take this as a indicator that i am off ballance because when i sleep it is to be at rest with nothing there, for me anything else is either some others projection or my own, be that dreams of a heavenly state or a not so nice one. Nothing on the other hand does not leave me either way inclined.

with love, and of cause the ever present nothing Iain.

Lain,
What you said was very deep and true, dreams are a filter, we as humans need that filter as a out-let. When I was little or my yearly twenties I would have talked or walked in my sleep I do not remember it, but the next day I feel great, usually when this happens I am going through something emotionlly. and this is my extreme out-let. As I got older I would just dream and my dreams would be so bizare and made no scense what so ever , but I felt good the next day.

Love & Light

Default This was from tree or four years ago

I found this old message today that i got about 3 and a half years ago, i thought i would like to share it with pathways. i have only ever written about four things down. And this was not from my mind but i thought it was wise council.

as the sun shines,
as the wind moves,
far from the source,
so the truth diminishes in the glare of lies,
all is now,
all is then,
this we cant disguise,

truth in many forms comes too our eyes,
feel inside the life we cant disguise,
all found all lost,
if we fail to realize,
that the answers to all is inside,

tread your path carefully my freind,
for all is there to realize,
take little, give allot,
and your path is straight and wise,

funny, happy, glad, sad,
all figments of our mind,
feel your soul, be your soul,
see through all the lies,
take heed, my freind take heed.
