My parents don't really believe in this kind of stuff and they say it's all junk.
I totally believe in angels and know that there is definitely some greater power than us out there. I am psychic and I always feel the presences of all spiritual beings around me. I tried to come out of my "spiritual closet" but am having a very hard time. My parents think I'm weird and crazy and I just have no one to talk to about what I'm going through. That's why I joined pathways, hoping to find someone like me. I get lonely because there's no one to talk to about my spirituality. |

Hello pianissimo!
It is great to see you here! I am glad you found reason to post here, as then you hopefully will find some means to approach your questions, while we are very honoured to be a part of that process. There are undoubtedly others along the same route as yours too, so you can rest assure, that you are not alone in these challenges. Now, as your descriptions so far concerns both bodily and social affairs, it may be self-evident that you may feel somewhat distressed. You mention, for instance, some pain it your neck and back area. It is important to find the cause(s) for this, because there are no reasons for you to walk around with pains when they can be avoided, are there? Physical pain is the body's way to tell us something needs to change. If you put your hand on a hot stove, then the pain is immediate, and the body will tell you what to do, even before the message reaches the brain. If you are exposed to heavy work, then muscular pain tells you, that the body needs time to recover somewhat. And when we are under chronic stress, the body can easily develop pain in the neck area. This is actually very common, and this stress can have both social and physical origins. But physical pain can also be induced by mixing drugs, so in that case, you need to talk with a medical doctor. This is also important, in case you have other physical ailments needing care by professionals. A medical doctor will also have methods available to find out if there are any neural disorders involved, and so, visiting the doctor would be a relatively simple way to rule out such origins for your pains. Having done that, there is one very beneficial treatment you could try (and this is actually very good), and that is a plain, good old massage. When done by a professional (- and some physiotherapists are reeeally good at it), it works wonders for both your body and your brains. Some of them have even specialized on methods to treat the body with so called "spiritual massage" too; with scents, colours and other stimulations during the treatment, so that you feel "attuned," "balanced" and nurtured both physically and emotionally after the treatment. It could be well worth a try. But you have indicated a connection between your pains and your own spiritual development. Personally (being educated as a genetical scientist upon time), I think of deoxyribonucleic acids and their attached bases whenever the DNA is mentioned. But there has admittedly been some focus on large scale changes on the DNA-level for some years. However, it has been difficult to relate to this in other ways, than by our mental conceptions. DNA is what ensures biological continuity across generations, and it regulates the metabolism and the biochemical/physical development during a lifetime. These are facts. But like all facts, our minds need contexts to understand how they stick together, and make a coherent view of the world. The mentioned focus is such a context, albeit a somewhat different one than the traditional understanding. To develop one's spiritual awareness is a matter of how one relates to one's own spirit, and to the rest of the world. It is considered to be a quite conscious thing, closely related to philosophy. But "awareness" - as such - means that it may not be as conscious, as is often the impression. And it needs not implicate any psychic/bodily changes per se. Even if it turns out, that a lot of people experience that. And spiritual awareness does not necessarily activate your standards of ethics (- your reasons to change behaviour or choose in particular ways) either. But likewise - many find that it does. The process of recognizing of one's own (and other's) spirit, can have quite profound effects. I am very pleased to say, you may have come to the right place then. In short: Pathways is the place! <smile> We all have our paths to walk in this life. This means that you, your parents, your friends and all the rest of us need to find out how we can make the best out of this existence. And very so often, we find that the challenge is to optimise our own choices. Some ways to behave are actually better than others. This is why "standards" are important. Which ways are best for you, can only be found in your own "moment". Your presence and your comprehension up to that point in time gives you clues to your options. They may not be easy to see, but you actually have all you need within yourself to make the best out of it. Life - as such - present you with what you are prepared to deal with. See it, and use your understanding! If your parents have a difficult time to accept your view of life, then you have a challenge to accept that they may not have arrived up to that point. Maybe you are "meant" to present them with this challenge, but that would be a very big task. You are definitely much loved by your parents, so there is no reason to question their love. Remember - it is possibly a new view of the very life you present them with, and the chances are, that they are not prepared to find it in you - of all people. So, you are obviously already presented with one of the big challenges of living a spiritual life; that of tolerance and acceptance. Each and everyone of us have our own paths to walk; your parents too. With love, Joe |

I had the same problem growing up... exactly.
I am now 35 so I can tell you what happened. First of all... if you really need to talk to someone you might want to look up some places around your area that you can go and congregate with your own "species". This helps. Also, remember, you are made of the same DNA as your parents. So take as much advice from your Mom and Dad as possible. They're only looking at things from 20-30 years ahead of you. When you grow up, you start seeing what wonderful advice they actually have. Remember, they have been living in the real world longer than you. The mistake I made is letting my spirituality take over my life. This seperated me from my friends and family. So try to balance your awe at the cosmos with some nice down to earth human stuff too. And last and final... don't push your trip on anyone else. Keep it personal so you can really enjoy it. It's your own magic... so keep it as close and secret as you can. Now that's power. ![]() |

Hello Shineling,
Welcome to Pathways – your light shines brightly !! Reading your reply left me quite in awe all in its own right, simply because in a very simple and plain manner you stated the facts. To date I have not yet come across such to the point advise. We thank you indeed. At the end of the day the mastership of oneself is humility, or some may call it “humbleness”. It is something one portrays when one no longer needs to advertise to the world (and therefore to oneself as well) the nature of one’s growth and maturity. And as you so aptly stated – it is the power within! Our richness indeed lays within – and that is exactly where our true spirituality resides. In Peace quinte
