If only
If only, we could stay, caught up in the past On days that we wish, would always last With those that we trust, to keep us safe from harm In homes that we love, that are cosey and warm If only, our friends understood what we do Why sometimes we hide in those shadows If only, they knew Then if they did, would they understand more Why we are quiet, in times, met before If only those days were free from pain When tears kept flowing again and again And those that we love stay safe by our side With big smiley faces filled with such pride If only we wish when someone has died Our hearts don’t feel so empty From all those tears, that we cried And those who we love don’t go forevermore There are no second chances to see them like we did before If only we never did this or that Or took different directions or didn’t even chat Or dreamt of days, that might have been If only, if only if only you had seen ©Copright Diane Rogers aka Diana Beacon |
